NATURE WALK TOURS OFFERED AT ALONDRA PARK

Los Angeles County has begun offering free guided nature walk tours at Alondra Park in Lawndale to encourage the community to "go green." The Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring the program to expose the community to nature at its best with hopes that it will encourage them to protect it. Walks at the 84-acre park will be held the third Saturday of each month from 8-10 a.m., beginning May 17.

DEADLINE FOR MAIL BALLOTS IS MAY 27

CAREERS FOR WOMEN IN LAW ENFORCEMENT

The Sheriff's Department will hold a "Women in Law Enforcement Career Day 2008" on June 28 at the S.T.A.R. Center, 11515 S. MAY IS MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH

Throughout the month of May, the Department of Mental Health will host educational conferences, activities and events that will raise awareness about mental health, as well as the importance of taking care of one’s own physical and mental health wellness.
